Maple Porch Square Design

This is a compact two-story Craftsman-inspired house design with 1,689 sq ft of total planned area. The layout is practical, social on the main level, and private upstairs. Sensible. Civilized. Coffee-friendly.

The facade has a crisp modern Craftsman character. Layered front gables, deep eaves, dark trim, and exposed timber brackets give it a strong architectural face. The exterior uses light horizontal lap siding with vertical board-and-batten accents in the upper gables. Stone pier bases support warm wood porch posts, while the dark roofing and metal porch roof add a sharp finish.

  • Total area: 1,689 sq ft
  • Bedrooms: 3
  • Bathrooms: 1 full bathroom and 1 powder room

Main Floor

The main floor measures 30 ft by 30 ft and provides 855 sq ft of planned area. The arrangement is open and direct. The covered porch leads into the foyer, with the living room opening toward the dining room and kitchen. The rear deck extends the dining and kitchen zone outward, because meals sometimes deserve fresh air.

The utility/laundry room and powder room sit near the stair and service side of the plan. Storage is tucked in with a coat closet near the entry. Compact, but not shy.

Upper Floor

The upper floor measures 30 ft by 31 ft and provides 834 sq ft of planned area. This level is dedicated to bedrooms, one full bathroom, and storage. The central hall connects all rooms clearly, with no maze behavior. A house should not require breadcrumbs.

Three bedrooms are placed around the hall. Bedroom 3 is the largest, while Bedrooms 1 and 2 are efficient and well-proportioned. Storage, linen space, and closets help keep the daily clutter from staging a rebellion.
