20 Tiny Bali Inspired Houses for The Escape

Last updated on January 17, 2026 · How we make our designs

Check out our Bali-inspired tiny houses that pack barefoot resort-style living into compact homes.

These Bali tiny houses are our way of proving that “small” can still feel like a private resort getaway, just with fewer steps between the sofa and the pool.

We pulled ideas from traditional pavilions, ricefield huts, temple porches and old guesthouses, then tuned everything so you can wander around barefoot and actually use every corner.

As you scroll through, watch how the sliding doors, decks and little boardwalks make the rooms spill into the garden and water without trying too hard.

The raised platforms, stilted bases and plunge pools are doing quiet work, making each footprint feel lighter, taller and a lot more generous than the floor plan suggests.

Look for the details that keep things practical in real life, like breeze block screens, vertical slats and bamboo railings that give privacy without closing you in. And if you notice a suspicious number of hanging chairs and daybeds, that is absolutely on purpose, because these are tiny houses designed around how you actually relax, not just how they look in photos.

Tropical Timber Glass Garden Retreat

This compact retreat leans on warm timber and crisp black framing, so it feels modern but still relaxed enough for sandy feet. The wide overhanging roof keeps the lines clean while giving the terrace a cozy protected feel, almost like a veranda that grew up and got stylish.

Sliding glass doors open each side of the living area, and the louvered wood screens add privacy without shutting the outside out. The stone plinth and stepping boards lift the house lightly above the garden, which helps the whole thing feel like it is just hovering over the green.

This compact house plays with clean lines and soft textures, wrapping the boxy form in pale stone panels and bright white framing that feels almost like a picture around the view. Warm wood under the deep roof overhangs keeps it from feeling too serious and makes the balcony ceiling feel a bit like a cozy porch in the sky.

Large sliding glass doors open both levels to the garden and pool, so the interior spills right out to the water without any fuss. We tucked dense tropical planting tight against the walls to blur the edge between architecture and greenery, which makes the place feel bigger and a little like a private resort you somehow convinced to fit into a tiny footprint.

Raised Jungle Boardwalk Bungalow

Tall folding doors pull the little cabin wide open so the breeze and the jungle pretty much walk in with you. We framed the entrance with a simple boardwalk that feels a bit like a pier, guiding you from the garden right into the heart of the space.

Inside, the view lines straight through to a compact balcony with a skinny table and chairs, which was inspired by quiet morning coffee spots in old Balinese guesthouses. The structure sits lightly above the ground on dark posts, which keeps the plants thriving underneath and gives the whole place that treehouse mood without the climbing workout.

Poolside Courtyard Glasshouse Retreat

This little retreat leans into clean lines and a tall gabled silhouette, then softens everything with warm wood and that playful hanging rattan chair. The big grid of glass doors opens the living area straight onto the timber deck so it feels like the pool is basically your front yard.

A slim breeze-block wall adds texture on one side and helps filter views from the neighbors, which is handy when you wander out in your robe. Lush planting wraps tightly around the pool and path, so the whole place feels tucked into a green pocket even though the footprint stays compact and efficient.

This tiny villa leans into that tall gable and generous glass to feel bigger than it really is, almost like it is stretching to catch the last bit of evening sky. Our studio wrapped the living area in a double height window wall so the interior stays simple while the view does the fun part.

We framed the plunge pool right off the timber deck, so a few steps is all that separates the sofa from a quiet evening float and an outdoor shower tucked beside it keeps the routine easy. Soft white walls, breezy block screens and that warm thatched roof bring in a calm island mood that feels relaxed, slightly playful and perfect for kicking off shoes the second you arrive.

Bamboo-Deck Canopy Jungle Studio

This little studio stacks its height to feel generous, with tall windows framing the treetops and bringing the garden right up to the bedside. The slim upper clerestory windows keep things feeling private while still letting in views of sky and palm leaves, so you can wake up knowing the weather before you find your slippers.

We wrapped the lower level in sliding glass and warm timber to blur the edge between the room and the deck, which turns the narrow footprint into a relaxed outdoor living area. The bamboo balustrade and raised platform were inspired by traditional stilted huts, giving just enough lift above the greenery to keep things breezy and make morning coffee on the porch feel a tiny bit heroic.

Ricefield Pavilion Poolfront Escape

This little pavilion leans into a classic Balinese roofline and warm timber structure, then softens everything with sheer white drapery that makes the bed feel like a cloud you can actually own. Large glass doors open straight to the deck so the bedroom just rolls out toward the rice fields and nothing feels boxed in.

We wrapped the front with a generous wooden deck that steps down to the pool, so moving from nap to swim is about a three-step commute, literally. Lush planting, a pergola walkway, and low railings keep the architecture feeling light while still framing views and giving just enough privacy that you can wander around in your resort robe without worrying about an audience.

Sunrise Porch Ricefield Micro Cottage

This little cottage wraps a clean white shell in warm timber fins and bamboo, so it feels modern but still very Bali. The tall roofline gives it a bit of playful attitude and also hides a generous lofted volume inside, so small does not feel small at all.

We framed the entrance with vertical slats to guide the eye up and add privacy without closing things off, and tucked a tiny porch under a woven overhang that keeps the outdoor bench usable even in a quick rain burst. Large black-framed windows grab views of the rice terraces on three sides, turning the interior into a quiet lookout where you can nurse a coffee and pretend emails do not exist for a while.

Thatched Peak Pool Courtyard Cottage

This little retreat stacks clean white walls with warm timber frames and tops everything with a generous thatched roof that feels almost oversized on purpose. Large sliding glass doors open straight onto the plunge pool, so the living space casually spills outside whenever someone gets the urge for a quick dip.

Upstairs, the balcony and tall corner windows pull in garden views and breezes, making the tiny footprint feel surprisingly open. We shaped the slim garden path and dense planting to hug the house, softening the modern lines and giving that pleasant sense of walking through a mini jungle to your own hideout.

Palm Court Lofted Plunge Retreat

This little retreat plays with height, using a soaring glass façade and warm timber roof to make the footprint feel way bigger than it really is. The loft tucked inside floats like a balcony, so you still catch the palm views while pretending to be productive.

On one side, the patterned block wall filters the breeze and gives just enough privacy for that outdoor shower moment, no curtain required. The plunge pool, clean steps and hanging chair keep everything relaxed and unfussy, letting the simple lines and tight detailing do the quiet impressing.

Curved Roof Jungle Plunge Nest

This little nest leans into that sweeping curved roof, inspired by traditional Balinese pavilions and shaped so rain just glides away while giving the whole place a calm, almost boat-like profile. Bamboo cladding wraps the upper walls, so the house feels warm and familiar, while the smooth rendered base keeps everything looking clean and quietly modern.

The front is all about those big sliding glass doors that open straight to a floating daybed, so you basically step from bed to cloud and then to pool. A slim waterfall pours from the platform into the crisp white-edged plunge pool below, turning a compact footprint into a layered stack of lounging, greenery and water that makes the whole design feel a bit like a tiny private resort.

Heritage Porch Temple-Inspired Garden Hut

This little house borrows from village temples with its steep gable roof, carved brackets, and that tiny ceremonial porch that feels almost storybook. The terracotta tiles step down in two layers, which helps the roof feel cozy while still giving it a bit of grandeur for such a small footprint.

We kept the walls in pale, weathered timber so the detailing around the windows and door feels calm and kind of nostalgic, not fussy. Stone guardian statues, chunky potted ferns, and the raised entry stair quietly frame the front, turning a compact structure into a welcoming centerpiece for the courtyard.

Palm Court A-Frame Glass Studio

This little retreat borrows the sharp A-frame silhouette and then softens it with warm timber, woven ceiling panels and a cozy hanging chair out front. The big glass façade opens the living space to the garden so the house feels way bigger than it actually is.

Inside, the exposed rafters and glowing uplights make the roof feel like a lantern, which is kinda magical at night. Slim dark frames around the windows keep everything looking crisp while the raised deck and built-in planters gently lift you above the garden and create a simple, calm arrival.

Riverstone Stilt Garden Sleep Pavilion

This little pavilion rests lightly on chunky riverstone piers, so it feels perched rather than planted, almost like it could tiptoe through the jungle if it wanted to. We wrapped it in slender floor to ceiling glass frames so the bedroom feels like a calm observatory looking out over the greenery.

The broad hip roof in timber shingles gives a simple, almost iconic silhouette that keeps the space cozy while still feeling open and airy. A compact front deck and straight shot of stairs extend the living area outside, turning that threshold into a relaxed landing pad for bare feet and morning coffee.

Vertical Poolfront Palm Hideout

This little place stacks life neatly on two levels, like a tropical townhouse that decided it wanted a pool. The tall white walls and snug footprint keep everything feeling private and calm while palms and lush plants soften the edges so it never feels boxed in.

Up top, the vertical timber fins give shade, privacy and a warm texture that plays against the crisp concrete and glass, all inspired by clean-lined urban homes but relaxed for Bali weather. Downstairs, wide sliding doors, a timber deck and that hanging chair make the living room spill right to the pool, because honestly why pretend you are not here to lounge ten steps from the water.

Arc Bamboo Roof Fieldside Retreat

This little retreat plays with contrast, pairing a clean white box with a sweeping bamboo arch that feels almost like a protective shell. The thatched curve wraps around the main volume, giving shade and a cozy sense of enclosure while still looking a bit like it could host a very stylish Hobbit.

Elevated on a stone base and accessed by a simple staircase, the entrance is tucked neatly under the arch so the approach feels both ceremonial and relaxed. Up top, the open rooftop deck borrows the rice fields as its backyard, turning the flat roof into a quiet lookout that makes morning coffee feel a bit more epic than it really is.

Triangular Bamboo Treetop Garden Cabin

This little cabin leans into a classic A-frame silhouette, then softens it with that thick thatched roof that almost hugs the walls. The bamboo lattice front with those triangle and diamond windows was inspired by traditional Balinese weaving patterns, so the face of the cabin feels a bit like crafted jewelry.

We kept the porch tiny on purpose, just enough for a chair and a quiet cup of something, so the focus stays on the garden wrapping around it. Raised steps, woven bamboo wall panels and chunky bamboo railings all work together to keep the structure light on the land while still feeling solid, almost like it simply grew up out of the clearing.

Slatted Gable Garden Pool House

This design plays with contrast, pairing a dark framed glass base with a warm timber cocoon on top that feels almost like a treehouse in the city. The slatted gable screen gives privacy while still letting you peek out, and those trailing vines soften the sharp lines so it never feels too serious.

We tucked the lap pool tight to the house and wrapped it with a slim boardwalk so every step feels like you are on a little island, even if you just came back from the grocery store. Frosted glass keeps the ground floor calm and tucked away, while the big opening upstairs grabs the sky and turns the compact footprint into something that feels much bigger than it really is.

Vertical Slatted Oasis Courtyard Pod

The design stacks a crisp white base with a warm timber-wrapped upper level, so it feels both compact and surprisingly grand at the same time. Slim vertical slats wrap the top floor like a gentle screen, giving privacy from neighbors while still letting breezes sneak through and cool the rooms.

At ground level, big sliding glass doors spill straight onto the pool deck so the living space feels stitched right into the water and greenery. The narrow lap pool and dense planting were very intentional, turning a tight urban footprint into a pocket resort that lets you float, nap and repeat without ever leaving home.

The design leans into a clean gabled silhouette that feels both cozy and unexpectedly tall, almost like a tiny cathedral for lazy afternoons. Large black framed windows stretch up the front so you can float in the pool and still feel connected to everything happening inside.

A warm timber soffit wraps the balcony and ceiling, softening the crisp white walls and giving the whole thing a relaxed beach house mood. The woven hanging chair, slim ladder detail and patterned breeze block panel are little touches that make the space playful, while also helping air move through and adding texture where a plain wall would have been a bit boring.
