25 Modern Bali Inspired Bamboo Houses

Last updated on January 17, 2026 · How we make our designs

Check out our modern Bali-inspired bamboo house designs with eco-friendly architecture and eye-catching curves.

Bamboo in Bali is doing far more than holding up roofs now. In these homes we let it curve, swoop and spiral so villas feel a bit like they grew out of rice fields, jungle slopes and cliff edges all on their own.

We borrowed lines from waves, banana leaves, blossoms and old stilt houses, then stretched them into mushroom canopies, petal roofs, floating terraces and the occasional show off staircase.

Notice how decks hug pools, balconies glide along valleys, and slim columns step lightly so the structures sit in the landscape instead of stomping on it.

As you go through the designs, look for how rooms blur into verandas, how breezes sneak through slats, and how every curve quietly aims you toward a view worth staring at for way too long.

If you end up planning your life around a hammock or an infinity pool after this, honestly, we get it.

This bamboo retreat leans into soft curves, from the layered thatched roofs to the sweeping balconies that feel almost like tree branches reaching out. The structure is propped on slender bamboo columns that keep everything light and a bit playful, as if the whole place just grew out of the garden overnight.

We shaped the lower level around water and greenery, with a small bridge and a sunken lounge hugging the pond so you always feel close to the landscape. Sliding woven panels and generous openings keep the rooms open to the terraces, making every corner feel like an easy step between indoor comfort and those rice fields stretching to the horizon.

This design rides along the hillside in soft waves, almost like the building decided to surf through the jungle and pause here for a while. The sweeping bamboo curves shape cozy pockets for windows and terraces, so every nook feels tucked in and protected.

We took cues from river currents and banana leaves, which is why nothing here feels straight or stiff. The layered bamboo skin wraps around the structure for shade, guiding breezes through the arched entry and around the hanging lounge chair where most guests conveniently “forget” about their return flight.

The whole structure rises like a cluster of giant forest mushrooms, with those sweeping bamboo canopies sheltering each level in generous curves. Those tree like columns are not just for show, they spread the load gently and keep the villa feeling light even though it is a serious piece of engineering.

We shaped the walls with soft bends so every room gets a view that slips past the neighboring roofs and into the greenery beyond. Layered balconies and overhangs protect the interiors from rain and sun, while the warm bamboo skin keeps everything feeling calm and a bit magical without trying too hard.

This hillside retreat leans into the contours of the slope, with the bamboo structure stepping down in easy terraces that feel almost like giant wooden waves. The sweeping shingle roof curls up at the edges, a little like a relaxed pagoda hat that decided to go on holiday in Bali.

We shaped the rounded decks to echo the curve of the infinity pool, so the whole place gently hugs the valley view instead of just staring at it. Clustered bamboo columns angle outward like growing stalks, giving the house a steady stance while keeping everything open to the jungle air and that slow, peaceful mood.

This design leans into long, low lines that stretch out toward the valley, so the whole pavilion feels like it’s quietly watching the landscape with you. The wide timber deck, lined with smooth river stones and soft grasses, turns the front of the house into an easy outdoor living room where shoes are clearly optional.

Tall glass doors slide away to blur the edge between inside and outside, giving every room a calm view of green hills and palms. Vertical bamboo cladding and the broad thatched roof work together to keep the structure light yet sturdy, inspired by traditional Balinese farm houses but cleaned up just enough for people who also like nice bed linens.

This design leans into soft curves that echo the surrounding hills, with each floor peeling out like a petal over the valley. The layered shingle roofs hug the bamboo structure and help shield the open rooms from tropical rain while keeping everything feeling light and a bit playful.

We wrapped the house with generous balconies and slender vertical slats so breezes can wander through and every room feels plugged straight into the jungle. The pool and sweeping timber deck follow the same rounded lines, which quietly guides people through the garden and makes the whole place feel like it grew there on its own.

This sculpted bamboo house leans into those sweeping rooflines that feel a bit like a wave about to roll in, which is exactly what we wanted. In our studio we borrowed curves from Bali’s coastline and wrapped them into layered eaves, so the upper floor feels cradled rather than boxed in.

Slim bamboo columns angle gently as they rise, creating a sort of open frame that keeps the ground level bright and invites the garden right up to the glass walls. Above, the woven balcony rail and exposed bamboo ribs give everything a handcrafted vibe, while the clean white base and pool keep it all grounded and refreshingly simple.

The whole place feels like a bamboo wave paused mid curl, with that big sweeping roof wrapping over the upper terrace and giving the house its soft profile. We shaped the curved balcony and arched windows to echo that motion, so every line gently guides your eye toward the garden and pool.

That dramatic ribbon staircase is our little theatrical moment, spiraling up from the lawn and making the walk to bed feel a bit like an entrance. Framing it all with chunky vertical bamboo, snug thatch, and pockets of greenery keeps the villa relaxed and grounded, which is exactly what guests secretly hope for after their second coconut of the day.

Layered on slim supports, the bamboo volumes gently project over the hillside, giving every room a front row seat to the valley below. Wide sliding glass panels keep the structure visually light and pull the views straight into the living spaces, so you sort of forget where the balcony ends and the living room begins.

Inside, the simple wood and rattan furnishings echo the clean lines of the exterior, which keeps the focus on the structure and the landscape, not on clutter. The design is inspired by traditional stilt houses, but refined with crisp geometry and long decks that invite slow walks, preferably with coffee in hand.

This design leans out over the valley like it is quietly showing off, with slender bamboo columns lifting the deck and pool above the treetops. The long infinity pool stretches beside the house so you glide along the same horizon that the roofline traces, making swims feel a bit like flying.

We shaped the sweeping roof to soften the architecture against the sky and to give deep shade to the glass walls and terraces. Warm bamboo structure and wide timber platforms wrap around the rooms, creating a gentle transition from bedroom to pool to jungle that makes wandering barefoot here feel totally natural.

Each floor of this design unfurls like a giant bamboo flower, with petal shaped roofs overlapping to shade the wide wraparound balconies. Those curved lines are not just for looks, they catch breezes and make every level feel like a treehouse with its own private nest.

We drew inspiration from banana leaves and blossom forms, then exaggerated them so the balconies feel playful and a bit wild. Slim vertical bamboo poles keep the structure light, while tall glass panels frame the forest and make the whole place feel almost stitched into the surrounding jungle.

Rounded bamboo walls wrap around the stone base, echoing the soft curves of the surrounding hills and rice paddies, so the whole place feels like it grew there overnight. The sweeping roof layers stack like big woven hats, giving generous overhangs that keep the spaces sheltered while still feeling really open to the valley.

Slim bamboo columns lean outward a bit, giving the deck a light, almost playful posture as it floats above the water. The crescent boardwalk, glass balcony rail, and carved lattice panels are all shaped to keep views wide and breezes moving, while the raised structure and dark rock foundation help the house sit above the damp ground and blend into the landscape.

The sweeping roofline wraps over the villa like a protective shell, inspired by ocean waves and the slow curve of palm leaves nearby. It gives generous shade to the wraparound deck, so you can practically live outside without turning into a lobster.

Slender bamboo columns lean and cluster together, framing open lounges that blur the edge between interior and jungle. The raised platform and stone steps keep everything light on the landscape while lining up those perfect pool and valley views that guests pretend are “accidental.”

Ripple Roof Bamboo Lagoon Pod

This little bamboo pod grew from our obsession with soft curves and calm water, so it naturally ended up hovering above its own mirror like lagoon. The sweeping roof wraps down into the walls in one smooth motion, which makes the whole place feel like a sheltered nest instead of a regular boxy room.

Large arched glass doors open the bedroom straight onto the round deck, so mornings are basically just a few steps from bed to water views. We tucked warm lighting under the overhang and around the built in bench to trace the shape at night and keep evenings cozy, while the layered bamboo shingles and ribs keep the structure light, sturdy and just a bit playful.

This bamboo pavilion pulls its shape from the curve of a rising sail, so the roof lifts at the tip as if it is catching a sea breeze. The broad thatched canopy stretches low on the sides to shade the wraparound deck and the long pool, which means you can lounge outside without roasting.

We threaded stout bamboo columns in relaxed clusters rather than a stiff grid, giving the structure a kind of tropical treehouse vibe that still feels solid underfoot. Above, woven bamboo screens soften views and filter wind, while the open sides keep every corner connected to the gardens and the ocean beyond, so you never forget you are in Bali, even for a second.

The steep A shaped shell pulls the whole bamboo cabin upward, giving it a snug mountain hut vibe even though it is sitting in lush tropical greens. Triangular glass panels stitch across the front, almost like a crystal puzzle that lets views stretch straight through to the rice fields beyond.

Inside, the narrow footprint is used smartly, with the central spine guiding you from the deck up toward the loft sleeping nook. The small front terrace, pool and those easygoing lounge chairs turn the entrance into a tiny outdoor living room that nudges guests to slow down and just watch the landscape do its thing.

The design wraps around itself in a smooth spiral, almost like a seashell that decided to settle in the hillside. Those sweeping bamboo bands break up the round form and frame big curved windows, so you feel pulled outward toward the rice terraces instead of boxed in.

We played with stacked circular levels and that bold round entry to give a bit of playful fantasy without losing practicality. Elevated decks, slender bamboo supports and the tiered stone base keep the home light on the land while the layered roof and deep overhangs quietly handle the tropical weather without making a fuss.

The sweeping round roof and stacked bamboo frames were shaped to echo the soft curves of the rice terraces just beyond the deck. Floor to ceiling glass opens wide so the whole front of the house feels more like a veranda that just happens to have walls.

A continuous ribbon of bamboo wraps each level, smoothing out the corners so everything feels friendly and a bit like a giant treehouse for grown ups. Built in seating and the circular dining nook hug the edge of the terrace, which makes sharing meals feel like you are sitting on the rim of the landscape itself.

The rounded front of this bamboo sanctuary was shaped to feel like a welcoming halo, so stepping through that tall oval opening feels a bit like entering a secret portal in the jungle. Stacked curves of light and dark bamboo wrap the structure, giving it a gentle, sculpted form that feels almost grown rather than built.

We wrapped the base with a slim waterway and a soft stepping path, which cools the microclimate and makes the entrance stroll feel pleasantly slow on purpose. The layered thatch roof flares outward to shade the walls and terraces, while the vertical bamboo screens filter views and breezes so you stay connected to the landscape without feeling on display.

This design grew from the idea of a lantern glowing softly over the rice fields, which is why the curved roofs pour down in gentle layers around the central core. The tall arched entry pulls you in like a doorway to a treehouse, with the wide bamboo stair easing you from the garden up into the main level.

Each ringed terrace wraps fully around the house, so you can wander in circles and keep discovering new little corners for sitting and daydreaming. Slender bamboo columns lean and cluster like a small grove, giving support while also framing open views to the paddies and distant hills, so you always feel perched just above the landscape.

The loft hangs out over the garden with that big woven hammock acting like a lazy lounge that everyone fights over in our portfolio meetings. Framed in warm bamboo and topped with thatch, it feels a bit like a refined treehouse that decided to grow up only halfway.

Those tall A‑frame openings pull your eye straight to the palms and the pool, so the whole structure feels drawn toward the landscape rather than shut away from it. Slim vertical bamboo rails and the simple stone path below keep the design light and unfussy, which is exactly why this place works so well for barefoot mornings and doing absolutely nothing on purpose.

This bamboo house leans into a pagoda inspired silhouette, with those generous double eaves giving it a slightly regal but still super relaxed vibe. The stacked rooflines help keep the upper rooms cooler and drier in Bali’s weather, while making the whole place feel taller and more airy.

We wrapped the structure with a full perimeter veranda so you can wander all the way around and always catch a breeze, not to mention sneak in a sunrise walk in your slippers. The house stands lightly over a slender pond, with a stone path leading up, which does the practical job of lifting the bamboo off the ground and quietly turns every arrival into a tiny ceremony.

The sweeping roof rises like a frozen wave, pulled straight from the ocean it overlooks, and gives the pavilion its big character moment. Underneath, a forest of angled bamboo columns keeps everything feeling light and almost playful, while still holding up that huge canopy without breaking a sweat.

Wide timber decking wraps around the structure so living spills toward the cliff edge and the sea becomes part of the living room view. We kept the walls mostly open with sliding panels, which means ocean breeze, easy indoor outdoor flow, and a space that feels a bit like a very fancy treehouse that grew up.
