Seaside Shingle Cottage Porch Escape Floor Plan

This is a compact two-story cottage plan with a straightforward footprint and a cheerful, porch-forward attitude. The layout is efficient, clean, and unapologetically livable.

The facade reads as coastal-cottage meets modern farmhouse. A centered entry door, balanced window placement, and a full-width covered front porch keep the composition crisp. Siding is expressed as painted shingle-style cladding with simple trim. The roof is a steep front gable with standing-seam metal panels for a tidy, durable finish.

These floor plans are draft drawings and are available for download as printable PDF. Gross level areas below use the provided plan extents (20′ x 16′); individual room dimensions are not labeled in the drafts, so room areas are described by proportion rather than exact square footage.

  • Total area (all floors): 640 sq ft (2 floors × 320 sq ft each, based on 20′ × 16′)
  • Bedrooms: 1
  • Bathrooms: 1
  • Floors: 2

The plan opens into a broad, open living and dining zone, with the kitchen tucked to the upper-right for efficient circulation. A short hall and central stair core organize the service rooms neatly, so the main space can do the heavy lifting (and the relaxing).

  • Front Porch: covered entry porch spanning the front
  • Living Room: primary gathering space, open to dining
  • Dining Area: open zone adjacent to kitchen
  • Kitchen: compact U-shaped working layout
  • Hall: connector to bath, laundry, and stairs
  • Stairs (Up): central run for clear wayfinding
  • Bathroom: full bath with tub/shower, toilet, and vanity
  • Laundry/Utility: dedicated laundry niche (no more “laundry chair” in the living room)
  • Closet: small interior storage near the front
  • Side Deck: exterior deck off the left side

The upper level is a simple, calm bedroom floor with the stair landing centered and storage pushed to the sides. It is one big room done right—plus attic storage strips that quietly swallow seasonal clutter.

  • Bedroom: main sleeping space occupying the central volume
  • Closet: dedicated closet near the stair landing
  • Stairs (Down): return stair to the main floor
  • Attic Storage (Left): eave storage zone
  • Attic Storage (Right): eave storage zone
