20 Timeless Old Money Houses with Pools

Last updated on July 29, 2026 · How we make our designs

See how pools become part of the estate’s manners—framing views, anchoring gardens, and even making an urn look perfectly at home.

These old money houses pair lasting architecture with pools that know their place. We drew from Georgian estates, Tuscan villas, chateaux, riads, chalets, and coastal retreats, each with its own sense of occasion.

Notice how the water follows an axis, frames a view, or slips into a courtyard. Reflecting pools, lap lanes, dark infinity edges, and mosaic basins all make the house feel more settled, not just wetter.

Look closely at the gardens too. Boxwood, cypress, lavender, stone terraces, and a few very well-behaved urns give every pool its proper setting.

Inspired by stately Georgian country estates, this tall stone manor uses a balanced façade, crisp sash windows, and carved clock pediments to create lasting grandeur. The dark entry door gives the pale exterior a smart focal point, because every proper house needs a little mystery.

A long black-edged reflecting pool extends the central axis into the garden, mirroring the architecture with a touch of theatre. Boxwood borders, rounded topiary, and classic urns keep the landscape neat, polished, and perhaps more organized than most family calendars.

This sun-warmed villa takes its cues from classic Tuscan estates, with terracotta roof tiles, arched loggias, and shuttered windows set into softly textured stucco. Stone corner details and wrought-iron balconies give it the kind of polish that feels collected over generations, not ordered last Tuesday.

A long turquoise lap pool stretches beside the house, framed by pale paving, olive trees, lavender, and a neat line of cypresses. The terrace is deliberately simple so those big valley views stay front and center, which is frankly hard to argue with.

A broad double stair leads down to clipped topiary and a deep blue pool with a softly rounded end. The pool mirrors the house like a very flattering portrait, while gravel paths and stone urns give the garden that settled, old-world finish.

This coastal villa takes its cue from 1930s Riviera glamour, with curved balconies, crisp pilasters, and soft blush trim against creamy stucco. A glowing glass-block stair tower adds a little cinematic sparkle, because plain stairwells are terribly boring.

The pool is finished in pale blue mosaic with bold black geometric lines that echo the house’s streamlined details. Dark stone paving, white coping, and lush potted palms frame the water while keeping the sea view wide open.

It takes its cue from classic New England summer estates, with white trim and a covered porch keeping the mood polished but never fussy.

The narrow dark-water pool follows the edge of the rocky bluff, making the ocean feel almost like part of the garden. Gravel paths, hydrangeas, and dune grasses soften the stone walls, while the curved pool end adds a little flourish because straight lines can be rather bossy.

A slim slate lined pool sits against broad stone terraces, extending the home’s crisp geometry into the grounds. Its dark water echoes the stormy sky and makes the carved entry and fortress like façade feel even more commanding.

A deep rectangular pool mirrors the façade and sits within a crisp brick terrace edged by clipped boxwood and flowering shrubs. The vine-draped pergola adds a softer garden corner, because even grand houses deserve a spot to be a little less serious.

A pale stucco façade, tall pilasters, and evenly placed multi-pane windows give this Swedish Empire villa its composed, almost ceremonial presence. The weathered copper roof adds a soft green crown, because apparently even roofs can age gracefully.

A long rectangular pool sits on the central axis, reflecting the house like a very expensive mirror. Granite paving, white gravel, clipped hedges, and birch trees keep the garden crisp while letting the woodland setting feel wonderfully close.
